Can,t open Attachments in outlook

Hi,

Whenewer we open a attachemt in outlook, it displays a warning box saying
"You should only open attachments from a trustworthy source"

Would you like to open the file or save it to your computer?

<Open> <Save> <cancel>

and displays a checkbox saying " Always ask before opening this type of file".

Even if we uncheck the check box the warning keep displaying the same.

Is there any way can we avoid this warning ?

And after we click on open to open the attachments it gives another error
"Power point can't read C:\documents and settings\%username%\local
settings\filename.ppt"

I learnt that this is happening due to some new patch blocking the temporary
outlook folder in "Temporarary internet files" .

I found some solution in a KB. It says

1. Using REGEDIT.EXE locate the following key:
My
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\*Version\Outlook\Security
* Depending on your version you may have to modify that path after the
"Office" key. You may have folders 8.0, 9.0, 10.0, 11.0, use the highest
number. This is probably the version that you use.

2. Modify the Key "OutlookSecureTempFolder", by replacing "Temporary
Internet Files" with "Temp". For example:

OLD VALUE: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary
Internet Files\OLK177\ (you may have different number than 177)

NEW VALUE: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\OLK177\

3. Restart Microsoft Outlook.

Above solution works. but thie problem keeps occuring for several users. Its
dificult to make changes in all users dektops.

Is there any other solution wich will avoid or fix this problem.

Thanks in advance

What an annoying thing to deal with.

Do they log on to a domain?
Use a logon script to apply a .reg file or something.

Or create a reg file for them or someone with admin powers, to run at the
desktop.
