Can Tables Be Nested?

Is it possible to nest tables in Access, such that one field in a table is
an table of an entirely different kind, with a specified structure? If so,
where would I read up on this?

Hi John,

There are two ways of looking at this.

1) Are you thinking of a field that might store one table in one record
and a quite different table (different in structure, not just contents)
in the next? If so, the situation is similar to storing any other
complex data in a field, such as a picture or a Excel worksheet.

2) In any other situation, nested tables are neither possible nor
necessary. Read up on database design and normalisation; a good place to
start looking is Jeff Conrad's list at

No.

That's what related tables are for. You have a one to many
relationship; use two tables.
