Can templates from the Microsoft Excel for Windows Work On a Mac?

T

The Wolf

I am looking for a loan calculator that allows me to enter extra payments
towards principle.

The Mactopia site does not have any but the Excel windoze site does.

When I tried to download it to my Mac it came up as gibberish.

If I have a friend on windoze download it and email it to me can I open and
use it on my Mac?

I know Macs handle dates differently but are there other issues?

Hi,

I can't vouch for the specific template, but in general the answer is, "yes,
you can."

You'll run into problems if the template has any open source Active-X
controls or Microsoft Visual Basic commands that were introduced in version
6 or later.

Most of the time you won't have these troubles because almost always macros
can be written without Active-X or VB 6 commands and accomplish the same
thing.

So it is definitely worth giving that template a try.
