Can the File location be added automatically in the application properties?

Is there any way to set the application properties of word
so that the location: file name and path, are
automatically inserted in the footnote area when a word
document is opened instead of having to click and add it
manually?

Yes.
You will need to modify the Normal.dot template. First
open a brand new document. Make the modifications to the
header and footer that you want.

To insert the filename and directory path select "INSERT"
from the Command line then "Field" then Categories = ALL
then in Field Names choose "Filename", while in "Filename"
click on the "OPTIONS" button then "Specific Field
Switches" folder, select the "\p" option and click on
the "Add to Field" button, then click on "OK" then "OK"
again.

Now you have your page as you want it to default. The next
step is to save the file as "Normalnew.dot" in your
template directory.

Next get out of Word. Find the Normal.dot file in Windows
Explorer then check its properties (right click, then
Properties)and ensure that the "Read Only" option is NOT
on. Then rename Normal.dot to another name
(Normaloriginal.dot??). Now move your Normalnew.dot file
to the same directory as the original Normal.dot (if not
already there) and rename to Normal.dot.

Check by going back into Word where your default document
should now contain your Header and Footer.

(HINT: To prevent common Word viruses that usually attack
the Normal.dot file, simply set the Properties of the new
Normal.dot to "Read Only" then change back if you ever
want to make further changes to your default template.")

Now if you could answer my question, that would be most
helpful. ;-)
Cheers, GKN
