Can User update own RBS in PWA?

J

Jim Althoff

The Resource Center allows the selection of individual resouces so that the
resouce and any custom enterprise field can be edited. However, we would
like the PWA user to change any of these fields such as the "RBS" and "Skill"
when they have a change.

I'd like to have a link on the Home page named "Employee Profile" to the
ResourceDetailsView.asp page and pass the employee's id to the page.
However, I have a couple of problems; first, I can't determine the users ID
(or the correct name to use as the ID). Second, the querystring parms may
not take the users ID as a parameter to ResourceDetailsView.asp page. If
this is confirmed, I'll just have to change the code and look for a
querystring.

Please help. The function will be real value added.

Thanks,
Jim

I cannot comment on the custom code needed to allow resources to change
their own resource information in Project Server. However, unless you want
absolute chaos in your Project Server instance, I would strongly recommend
that you do NOT allow resources to change their own information. This is
the responsibility of the Project Server administrator, or a designated
assistant with Administrator permissions who is responsible for updating
current information for each resource in the Enterprise Resource Pool.
Anything short of this invites confusion and chaos in your system. Besides,
what makes you think resources would actually update their own information
even if you allowed them to do so? Hope this helps.
