can username and password prevent search engines to index and cache my page?

Dear all,

I have some private information put in a restricted webpage which is
protected by username and password... is this safe to prevent Google
or other powerful search engine to index and cache my page? I don't
want my webpage to be searchable...

How about combining "username+password" method and
"robots-noindex-nofollow" meta-tag method? That should be safe, right?

Thanks a lot,

-Walala

The login function will work, as long as the login info is not contained
within the page via script, etc.

The robot tags or file only apply to robots that read and then choose to
honor the content of the tag or file.
