Can Visio 2003 opens Visio 2007 files ?

I just get Visio 2003 installed and would like to learn. However, I can
only find books like "Step by Step for Visio 2007" from bookstore. I would
like to know can I use those files in that book and practise with Visio
2003. If yes, I will purchase the book.

Yes, 2003 can read files saved with 2007, however, of course, any 2007
specific features of 2007 will not work.
