I’m using Visio 2007 but my question also pertains to Visio 2003. My company
is starting to use some planning processes that will be depicted in Visio.
The Visio diagrams will include text fields for quantities such as number of
hours and percentages. I was asked if Visio could be set up to perform
simple calculations (such as adding up fields containing hours and
multiplying by a percentage, similar to creating an equation for an Excel
cell).
I’m not aware of this capability, so I suspect it can’t be done directly.
Correct me if I’m wrong.
Could something like this be done by linking Visio text fields to entries in
an Excel file? Excel could do the calculations and Visio would just reflect
the result. Again, this seems a stretch to me but I want to at least ask to
see if anyone has done something like this. Thanks for any insight.
