Can Visio pick by color; can it make shiny objects

Hi everyone,

I really like Visio. It is the most useful and intuitive drawing
program that I have seen.

I have two questions, though, as I am trying to hone my skills:

Can I choose an area to fill by means of what in Photoshop is called the
eye-dropper tool? I am sure that all you knowledgeable graphics people
know the tool about which I am speaking.

Second, can I make an object have a shiny or glassy appearance? Can I
make an object have a gradient fill? I am not sure that I really care
about the issues in this paragraph. It is not the purpose for which I
use Visio. But I am curious to know.

Thank you.

Hello Stanley,

There's no eye droper tool built in, although there is format painter (looks
like a paint brush on the standard toolbar), which allows you to copy a
shape's formatting (line, fill and text) to other shapes. (Clicking the
button once will enable a single paint operation, or double-clicking will
allow multiple 'paints'.)

In terms of shine, bear in mind that a single shape can only accept a single
fill (which might be a gradient with two colours), so generally you need to
create a grouped shape to produce a seemingly multiple coloured shape.

That said, checkout some of the great work on Chris Roth's blog
www.VisGuy.com and in particular this post:

Best regards
