Can Visio settings be setback to default for a user

One of our users has the problem that when he is viewing a visio document.
The boxes he created in a flow chart flash as he moves around the document.
It is a user setting as someone else can log onto the PC and look at the
same document and does not get the problem. Is there anyway that Visio can be
set back to all default settings. As the user has no idea how he created this
problem.

That's not any sort of Visio setting that I know of.
Can you describe in more detail about this "flashing"?
Do both users have the same display settings? It could easily be that
the user with the problem has the display set to a high resolution
that isn't handled very well by the video drivers.

The display settings are the same for both users when they logon to the same
PC.
I understand where you are coming from about the display we thought the same

The user has a visio document with several pages. The pages are made of
flowcharts. With the usual flowchat shapes added with text in them and a
couple of shapes with thicker borders. But when he moves around it looks like
all the shapes flash as though it is being badly redrawn. However when some
else has the same document with the same document opne its fine.

It could be an issue with the user’s profile, have you tried doing a repair
on Visio? It does sound like the objects are being redrawn, how about turning
down the hardware acceleration for the video display? What operating system
is being used and which version of Visio are we talking about?

Hi James

I can try a repair.

It is Visio 2007. XP professional SP2

We have tried different graphic settings. However our graphic settings are
not defined in the user profiles. So another user went onto the same PC and
could open the document fine with the same graphics settings.

Under the user’s profile if we configure Visio to place settings in the
registry and check the following registry key the value should be 1.
Tools > Options > Advanced > Put all settings in Windows registry

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Office/11.0/Visio/Application/DrawOffScreen

Do you have the latest service packs for Visio 2007 (SP1) and the most
recent drivers for your video card?

Hi james

Yes it was the DrawOffScreen setting that was casuing the problem. We manage
to recreate the problem on another PC by setting this.

Thanks for your help

What does that do? It's set to 0 on all the systems here and we don't
have any problem. I've looked at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/298736 and that just seems to refer to
Visio 5.
