Can we change the publishing default on save?

Prior to SP1 we could create a schedule and then save it so that it could be
worked on until ready to be published. Since we have applied SP1 we can only
publish which we do not want to do.

Is there anyway that we can change this default or add the facility to just
save rather than publish?
