Can we Track Date Changes?

I'm not sure if this is a dev type activity or if it is already possible in a
Project file:

Can we track when a specific field changes throughout the Project lifecycle?

For example, I have a custom date field called RDate. I want to be able to
track when that date changes, so at the end of the project, we can show that
the RDate changed X number of times, and these are the dates when it changed.

Is that possible in Project as it is or if not, is it possible
programmatically?

It is possible with custom development, but not something that you can do
out of the box.
