can you black as a true black in cmyk?

anton

have just taken over a small community mag. the printers have trouble with
publisher for various reasons but one of the biggest problems is the black,
especially on pages with colour.

It takes them a lot of time to sort it out and I can't afford that.

Is there any way that black can be saved as just black and not made from a
combination of colours when in cmyk?

thanks for the help

If you had Enfocus PitStop Professional or Apago PDF Enhancer you could fix
all those problems, and more, before they ever left your desktop. If you
like, I can process some of the pages for you as an example. Quite frankly,
the way Publisher outputs the color, all RGB in compite mode, it makes it
difficult for printers that don't pay attention to things like this. It
really is quite easy to get usable art from Publisher if you know how to
"fix" what comes out of Publisher or other Office applications. I think your
printer would be *very* happy to get PDFs that don't require nearly as much
processing in pre-press. Not to mention, you'll save yourself some money by
not paying those pre-press charges.

As Martha Stewart always says "That's a good thing".
