In PowerPoint there is a Convert to SmartArt Diagram button on the home tab.
To use it you must type text into a content placeholder, text box, or shape.
The only way to get back to just text is to select the text in the Text Pane,
then copy and paste it where you want the text to be.
To open the "Text Pane" select the SmartArt Diagram and go to SmartArt Tools
-> Design -> Text Pane. Or you can click the double arrow on the left side of
the SmartArt diagram.
