Jay,

There is little customization available to the built-in status reporting - save for changing the heading of each of the report sections or adding sections to the report. This is an area where M$ needs to invest some time and effort. I sort of understand where they're coming from with status reporting but it's just not very robust.

Having said that, when you create a status report you do specify if you want to use all the sections by default and whether those sections are called something else or not - so I guess that's some sort of customized template.

Another idea you might try is to create your status report template as a Word document, put it on your project shared documents folder(s) and have people go there to get the template to complete status reporting as required. Good luck!

I hope that people at Microsoft are reading this forum, because this is a
major feature Project Server lacks.

We too would like to be able to do more customization for Status Reporting,
for example we want to be able to show Issues with a Corresponding Mitigation
in the Status Report, currently doing this is clunky by user's having to
enter information rather than a field to enter into.

We outsourced our status report.
Our custom report pulls project owner date, tasks and milestones from a set
period of time and all active "High" priority issues.

The PM selects from their project list, selects a 2w date range, has the
opportunity to enter additional notes, then creates the report in a PDF.

The PMs still have to upload the report manually into their project report
folder. We recently added a feature that allows the PM to remove task lines
from the report to meet a management request of a one page document.

We used www.epm2e.com for this and were happy with their work.
