Can you disable the lockdown actuals functionality

We just upgraded from Project Server 2002 to 2003 and converted an existing
schedule over. We have resources reporting hours to the project monthly and
have dealt with 2002's issues relative to spreading actuals entered across
the entire month regardless of the start/finish date. Now, 2003 has the
"lock down actuals" functionality that requires resources to enter actuals by
day if the task is not planned across the entire month (you get a message
saying "you don not have any scheduled work during this week"). Since we're
nearing completion of the project (only months left of a multi-year effort),
we don't want to change approaches at this point. Is there any way to "turn
off" this lockdown actuals functionality in Project Server 2003 so that we
can continue reporting actuals by month regardless of the start date? Any
assistance would be appreciated.

You could simply turn off managed timer periods, or you can define your
managed periods at monthly intervals.

Thanks Gary ... actually we are already using non-managed time periods and
have monthly intervals selected (reporting actuals by for the entire period).
The issue appears to be related to tasks that start/end mid-month, it forces
the resoruce to enter actuals daily ... I assume to establish a start/fisnish
date. I found this article
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;832595) that
discusses this occuring when using Outlook to report actuals (which we are
NOT, but we having the same situation via the PWA timesheets).
