Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I am using Word 2008. In previous version of Word you could see a list of Recently Opened documents without having to use your mouse. In the current version rather than being at the bottom of the File menu, recently opened items appear only when you mouse over the Open Recent menu item listed under the File Menu.

Is anyone aware of a way to display Recently Opened documents at the bottom of the file menu ?

Many thanks

How are you opening the File menu in the first place? If you know of a
method other than clicking File with the mouse just Down Arrow to Open
Recent. If you _are_ clicking File, what's the big deal ? :)

Part of the reason for the change is that in prior versions the list was
limited to a maximum of 9 files, but 2008 increased that number
significantly. Another part is compliance with OS X Guidelines.

You can also access recently used files in the Project Gallery.
