Can you fade sound clips of music?

I finally figured out how to get some MP3 files to work that weren't working
before, but now I would like to have the music fade out at certain spots
rather than just abruptly ending on click or file transition. Is there a way
to do a (x) no. of seconds fade to sound/music?

Unfortunately, you can't fade a music in PowerPoint. You will need a sound
editor such as Audacity to do so.

You can download Audacity for free. Check out Audacity at:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

You can also check out this tutorial:
"Creating Fades using Sound Forge"

See if it helps.
