Can you organize page templates?

I need to be able to organize the templates I create. Currently they go
under 'my templates' ...and in random order. Is it possible to organize them
into subfolders? Alphabetically? ANY way other than just 'this is the order
you added them?"

Read John Guin's article "Template Manager Powertoy for OneNote 2007"
[1] and collect the PowerToy there.

Hi Mags,

the server hosting those files is being migrated this weekend. It should be
back on March 2 (tomorrow, as I write this).

Sorry for the problems.

Mags Ingval shared these words of wisdom:

Thanks!
Download the thing as soon as the server will be up again and then
have fun

This is a great tool.... just not exactly what I'm looking for. At least at
first glance.
I need something to organize the My Templates area... where are those
files located? Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Templates\1033\OneNote\12\Notebook Templates doesnt contain them... at
least not in my case...

Mags Ingval

Thanks David... but that is the same link to the application that I was
referring to that didn't do what I needed. but I do appreciate the effort.

No wonder that you didn't find the things!
The ON-templates are not stored *there*.
They are to be found in
%userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates

In case you have not done yet, download Olya Veselova's article: "How
to reorganize page templates"
http://blogs.msdn.com/olya_veselova/archive/2006/10/02/How-to-reorganize-page-templates.aspx

It will for sure be of help.

It was really slow for me - just let the browser chew away but eventually
the page will show.

Thanks Rainald... that was the path I needed. I had already read Olya's
explanation some time ago, however the path to the template directory wasn't
the same. Olya must be on XP. The other thing that was throwing me was that
some of the template 'sections' were under the Stationary directory. Once I
moved those, it became much clearer to me. I've got mine all sorted out...
and created quick links to those directories in a section that I use for
managing just those sort of things. Using the link, I can add a template,
open the directory, move it to the section I want, and close the notebook in
about 30 seconds. Works great.
Thanks...

Thanks for the feedback, Mags!
Glad to hear that you are settled now with the templates.

Have fun with wonderful ON
