Can you save files to a record in access?

HI,

I currently have an access DB set up with many records. Each record has some
associated word or excel files. I was wondering if there was anyway to link
these files to my access DB record. Can you save these files or paste them to
the record in access? Please help!!

Will a hyperlink do it for you? Access has a DataType for hyperlink.

The sample imaging databases at http://accdevel.tripod.com illustrate three
approaches to handling images in Access, and the download includes an
article discussing considerations in choosing an approach. One of the
approaches stores the image file as a BLOB (Binary Large OBject) in an OLE
Object field -- and, the technique is not limited to image files. There is
code in the example showing how to accomplish exactly what you ask.

You've already received advice on storing the address as a hyperlink, but
another example in the referenced example shows saving the path and file
name of an external file as text. You can do a similar thing storing the
path and file name as text and using the .FollowHyperlink -- which is nicely
covered in Help.

This looked really interesting and the page showed for about 5 seconds then
chaged to free screensaver offer that had a "Click Here" button. I would be
interested, but I will not Click Here on any free screensaver or icon offer.
They are mostly adware or spyware.

I tried it with Internet Explorer and got some popups that were
immediately suppressed by my browser settings.

I tried it with Safari (on a Mac) and didn't even see the popups.

Tripod offers free websites of modest size, but you have to put up with
Tripod's advertising, over which you have no control. I suppose popup ads
are their latest advertising gimmick.

I hope you this does not mean that, in order to continue, you would have to
accept the download of a screensaver. I've had those samples and examples
hosted at Tripod for a number of years, but maybe, as Tony says, it is time
to move them elsewhere and avoid the popups, now.

maybe, as Tony says, it is time to move them elsewhere and avoid
the popups, now.

You could certainly put them on my website if that's more convenient
