Can you set up "If then senarios within MS Projects"

I would like to setup a dynamic template with "If Then Senarios" . I know
about the taske dependencies, this is not what I am looking for. What I would
like to be able to do is IF a task is applicable THEN these are the tasks
that need to be completed. IF the task is not applicable THEN these are the
steps that would need to be created? is there anyway of doing this within one
template?
