Can you use the Renaming Tool if you're not where the server is?

We're running PS 2003 and we had need to change the names of all of our
projects. I found the renaming tool and asked the IT admin to load it on to
the server. He's done it and is able to rename projects but I'm the Project
Server Administrator and would be the one to do this but I'm physically
located away from the server. Is there any way for me to be able to use this
tool?

Thanks.

It turns out that this has nothing to do with the server. The renaming tool
is a stand-alone utility. It seems to allow "anyone" to rename projects -
you do not even have to be a valid windows user - you just have to check the
"trusted connection" box. This is very scary.

The tool renames the project and keeps documents, etc, but they forgot to
rename the project workspace. Although the content of the project workspace
stays with the renamed project the poject name on the page is the old name.

Please let me know if anyone finds anything different from what I found.

Thanks

I imagine that is true. After you provision a project workspace you can
then go to that workspace and change the name of the workspace to whatever
you want. This is done under Site Settings>Change Site Title and
Description. The value is stored in the WSS content database in table
dbo.WEBS.[Title]

I think that not renaming the workspace in the rename utility is by design
so that all the work done to rename project workspaces would not get
overwritten by the project rename utitlity. Ideally there should be an
option on the utility to also change the workplace title.

Thank you so much Jonathan. This worked.
