Cancel recurring appointment

A recurring appointment reminder keeps showing up that no longer applies.
Attempts to delete or cancel return a message that the original recurring
appointment details cannot be found. Any suggestions for canceling?

Start Outlook with the /cleanreminders switch

Start-> Run; outlook.exe /cleanreminders
