I have xp and office 2000 professional
last week I went to te Microsoft update site en let them decide what
updates I needed, which I agreed to install

Now each time I boot, and try to install the updates, it tries to install
Office XP Service Pack 3.
I do not have and never had installed Office XP, so I cannot insirt the CD
and I do not find the needed file " PRORED.msi"

Is there a way to remove this update? Thanks.

Could it be "PRORET.msi"?

Do you have any other Office family applications such as FrontPage? You can
check the Add/Remove Programs applet to see what Office XP applications the
operating system thinks are installed. The Office Update looks at the same
registry data that the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs applet uses.
Uninstall anything you don't need that is related to Office XP.
