cancelled meeting invitations

Please help. How do you add a meeting attendee to an
existing meeting where invitations have already been sent
without cancelling the meeting for the other invitees.

Whenever I make any changes to an existing meeting where
invitations have been sent the meeting gets cancelled
without ever advising me that the meeting will be
cancelled or prompting me to cancel the meeting.

Forward the invitation to them.
Then open their response so that their name
is added to the list of attendees.
