Cancelling an old reoccuring meeting

We have an old reoccuring meeting appointment which we need to
cancel. The problem is, the original owner of that meeting is no
longer working here and that account has since been removed for
security reasons. Is there a way to take ownership of that meeting
and then cancel it (so that all attendees receive a cancellation
notice)?
