Canned Messages

OK. Here is what I want to do.

I am running Outlook 2003 on Windows XP SP1. I use MS Word as my
Outlook editor.

I want to create a series of macros and place them on a toolbar that
will be visible when I am in my Inbox. I want to be able to click on
one of the buttons and have a new message appear, already pre-addressed
to certain individuals. Each button will create a new message, but
will be addressed to different people.

I do not know diddly-squat about Visual Basic, so I'm hoping there is a
way to do a "record the keystrokes" type macro. Once the macros are
created, I'm pretty sure I know how to put them on a toolbar; I just
need help creating the macros.

Thanks in advance.

No VBA needed. Just create a hyperlink on a button - either a mailto or a
custom template with the To field (and body if desired) completed.

Thanks. But I should add that the recipients will be in-house users
(we are running Exchange 2003), and not out-of-house Internet
recipients.

shouldn't matter. Add their display name and it should resolve - you may
need to use quotes around the name.

http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/commandlines.htm may have an example

OK Great!

So far so good. I have it working. But I put an entry in the "From:"
field in the template and when I click the toolbar button to launch the
message, the "From:" field is blank. The "To:" and "Cc:" fields are OK
as is the subject and the message body. Just not the "From:" field.
(I need to have a mailbox name other than my own in the "From:" field.)

Thanks

You can save the template with the account selected, but not the from field.
Make an account for that from address then select the account in the
template and save.
