Cannnot uninstall 2003

I have recently upgraded from office 2003 to office 2007. Office 2003 does
not appear to have uninstalled. It is still in the add/remove programs window
and I have an uninstalled update. When I try to uninstall through add/remove
I get an error message "the patch package could not be opened".

Any ideas

If you used the upgrade option in 2007 it would have replaced the 2003
components but left any that were not included in your version of 2007
