I have the Office XP home edition. Last month when I tried to open my Excel,
I was prompted to insert my Microsoft Office XP CD-ROM. I cannot find it
anywhere. I have had this program on my computer for several years now and
have never had a problem up until now. I purchased the CD-ROM from Microsoft
so it is not a bootleg or anything. I am able to access all of my other
Office programs (Word, Access, etc) but the Excel program won't work. When I
click cancel after I am prompted to insert the CD I receive a message that
says "Error 1706. Setup cannot find the required files. Check your
connection to the network or CD-ROM drive. For other potential solutions to
this problem see C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 10\1033\SETUP.HLP."
How can I fix this problem since I cannot find my CD?
Also, I tried to download the XP Office service pack 3 and it prompts me to
insert the CD to complete the process.
