Cannot access Excel

Joe

In the last few weeks I cannot access Excel. I have Small Business Office
2000. Opening Excel files I get a dialog box titled "Microsoft Office XP
Professional with Frontpage" Then states " Please wait while Windows
configures Microsoft Office Professional with Frontpage". Next box "The
feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM..." Next box "Error 1706.
Set-up cannot find the required files" I have no issue with Word or
Powerpoint.

I have exactly the same problem today, however, I did experience it last week
with Word, but had do difficulty with Excel during that event. I resolved the
Word problem without having to install the Service Pack 3, and not using
original CD's (which I did not receive with this computer), and with
information in the Word thread about this same problem. I'm trying the same
method now. Since you wrote a month ago, have you resolved this problem with
Excel? Have you had any problem accessing Word since your post?

Hi Joe... me again
This I got from a thread in "Application Errors" under Excel. It solved my
problem, though I had to change the address to Office10 (as that is the
program I have in XP. I hope it will work for you, or better yet that you
already solved your problem.
Start, run,
"c:\program files\microsoft office\office\excel.exe" /unregserver

After that:

Start, run,
"c:\program files\microsoft office\office\excel.exe" /regserver

If that fails, I guess you need to remove office and install it again.
