Cannot access Outlook 2002 data on old hard drive (Access Restricted)

R

Roger

I recently installed a new hard drive fearing that my
existing drive was failing. I installed Office XP on the
new drive and now I cannot open the Outlook files under
my user name on the old drive to import them. It tells
me that "access is restricted".

The easiest way to do it is to simply move your pst file from the old drive
to the new drive. OL won't see the old pst where it expects it to be and
will prompt you for its location. Just browse to wherever you keep the pst
on your new drive and you are in business. If OL won't open the pst, check
its file attributes (properties) and remove the "read only" checkmark.
