Cannot add any activities to schedule

I cannot add any new activities to my schedule. I have
checked the security level and set it on medium and tried
low, and there is no protection turned on. The schedule
acts like a read-only file. The activity appears there
and then disappears as soon as the schedule is saved,
closed and reopened. This is a large schedule with about
a thousand lines. There are many other schedules linked
to it. Is there a maximum number of activities that can
be reached? I have spent 4 hours trying to figure out
why I can't add information. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

Could be a few things.
1) You are actually adding the activity to one of the inserted schedules -
one of them may be read-only.
2) You do not have write permission for that file (ie: it is read-only based
on windows permissions not within project)
3) Your tasks are being added but are being sorted differently and end up
somewhere else in the project than where you think you left them
4) There is some sort of filter applied in your default view which prevents
them from showing up.
5) Your file is actually corrupt.

Check out items 1-4 and then see about creating a new schedule file. Cut and
paste the activities into it.

Thanks, Jack. I don't know what I did, but it is working
now. I had checked all the activities looking for my
entries (I put them in a bright bold color so I could
find them.) They weren't there. I made sure all
schedules had write permission. They did. I checked the
filters. All were OK. Then I went to tools and looked
at the filter - it said all tasks. I clicked it twice
and everything appeared.

Wierd, but it works. Thanks so much.
