Cannot back up .pst

For several months I have been backing up my Outlook 2002 .pst folder using
File/Import and export/Export to a file/Personal folder file. Last week,
however, when I tried this, I got an error message:
"The operation failed. An object could not be found."

What do I do to fix that?

So I feel back to using the backup utility, pfbackup.exe. Oddly, it had
disappeared from my File dropdown menu, so I reloaded it. But "backup" still
does not appear on the menu.

What do I do about that?

Export is not the way to backup a pst, or deal with a pst file. (nor Import)
With OL closed simply copy the pst

Ensure the backup addin is selected in Addins

Jauchart,
I would move the pst to a folder in My Documents and then your normal
backup program would include it in your regular backup.

Hi Roady,

OK, I tried this, but I seem to have different settings than you do. I'm
running XP Media Edition 2005, and when I get to bullet 3, the options are
instead Tools>Folder Options, then completely different from what your memo
showed.

Any ideas?

OK, how do I do that. The Backup utility was backing it up to a location
in

Don't bother with any software - just close Outlook and make a copy of the
pst file......

Ask Outlook. In Outlook, click File>Data File Management. Read its
location.

But under [my name], there is no folder called Local Settings; only

No can do. Data File Management says it is in:

But under [my name], there is no folder called Local Settings;

Yes there is. It's a hidden folder. Start Windows Explorer and enter
"C:\Documents and Settings\[my name]\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook" into the Address field. Click Go. You'll see it.
If you want to see it always, then open WIndows Explorer, click Tools>Folder
Options>View and check the radio button labeled "Show hidden files and
folders". This is basic Windows stuff and I think Microsoft did people a
disservice in making that the default behavior or even having hidden files
and folders.
