Cannot Change the Size Limit of a .pst File

Hello:

One of the users whom I support has reached the size limit for his .pst
file. I found a KB article (#832925) that suggested modifying the
MaxFileSize registry entry, but I was unable to find it in the registry. I'm
unable to locate the 11.0 key under Office on his or any of the other PC's
that I support.

Is there any other way to increase the size of this file on his computer?
Any suggestions that can be provided would be great. Thanks in advance!

11.0 signifies the version number for Office 2003. It sounds like you're using an earlier version, in which case the key would be 10.0 for Outlook 2002 and 9.0 for Outlook 2000.

Hi Sue:

That's the thing. I am using Office 2003 and I don't see any of the version
keys when I go to make this change. The end user is definetly using Office
2003 because there is a folder path on the system of C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11.

Is there another area of the registry that I can make this change to? Is
there an option within Outlook itself that I can modify?

In addition to Sue's post - if you are not a) using OL2003 and b) using PST
files created in OL2003 (unicode version), you can't increase the size -
you'd need to create new PST files & drag older messages out, etc., and
shrink/compact the original PST file.

All aspects of this end user's Outlook was created in version 2003. If I
need to direct the user to create a new .pst file, I'll be glad to, but I
would like to exhaust any other option available to me first. Is there
anything else that I can try?

If the necessary keys/values don't exist, you will need to add them, either manually, with a login script, with Group Policy Objects, etc.
