Cannot check SMTP servers while hooked up to MS VPN

Hi there,

I'm having a weird issue with Outlook 2003... Whenever I'm hooked up to a
remote VPN connection using the Windows XP VPN system (L2TP type connection)
over my LAN, Outlook can no longer communicate with the SMTP servers in my
accounts that are normally accessed via a direct connection over the LAN.

I've gone thru my IE Connection settings, and it's set never to dial a
connection, so I don't know why Outlook decides to die when the VPN is active.

Any help with this would be appreaciated!

Edison

PS I justed noticed too, that if I'm hooked up to the VPN, I cannot log
into this site either with my Hotmail ID; IE just times out.

Have you asked your network admin if you need any software installed on this
machine in order to access the internet? Sounds like there's a proxy at
work that would be blocking things other than web based traffic.
