Cannot "Clear" Clipboard in Office 2003 - recalcitrant images rema

I have problems with Copy/Paste in XP Pro and Office 2003 applications -
simply I cannot cut/copy & paste by using the Edit Menu or Mouse actions.
When I copy and then paste - I basically get the current Prt SCreen image
pasted into Word (or other Office 2003 App.)
I have reformatted C Drive 3 times and re-installed Windows XP Pro (Sp2) -
but this weird problem persists.
Last night I discovered that "Clipboard" which appears as an option in Word
- CANNOT be cleared of 4 recalcitrant images.
I do not have viruses or worms that I am aware of and have run Registry
Mechanic.
What suggestions (polite ones) can more learned people provide to help me
get my Copy and Paste functionality back?

This problem is often caused by a bad plug-in or often a Bluetooth driver.
By foremost, clean out your temp folder (it should be empty when all
applications are closed). See the following FAQ to help clean up:
http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm

If cleaning up doesn't help, start Word in safe mode and test:
from Start, Run, type in

winword /a

and press enter. Word starts in its default install mode bypassing all
templates and add-ins. Test it now and see if you can copy/paste.
