cannot click open hyperlinks in emails

I was able to before but uninstalled AOL (to try it out
but was not impressed) and continued to use IE6. Could
open hyperlinks before but not now as it seems.
I am not totally computer literate so if anybody is able
to help try not to let it get too complicated.
any help would be great thanks
