I am using MS Word 2007 and Windows Vista home premium. In MS Word, I am
unable to use the cursor to click anywhere within the document. I can still
navigate the blicking line with the keypad / keyboard but i cannot click
anywhere with the mouse. I just installed the office service pack upgrade.

I have not installed any addons to my knowledge except the pdf ad on but i
cannot even navigate to this menu within addons to change it.

Hi James,

If you hold the ctrl key when starting Word (safe mode) does the mouse work? If not then check for an updated mouse driver from the
mouse manufacturer website and/or check in the mouse settings in the control panel and turn off the 'universal scrolling' option.

There are some updates to Office in Vista that MS reports break a registry key that can also cause odd things like this to happen.

Are you working with templates?
If so you may need to delete the templates in the profile of the user. We
tried that and then the user would log back on and try again thereby creating
a new template. go to c:documents and settings/user/application
data/microsoft/templates
make a new folder and copy all templates into the "backup" folder.
Then reopen WORD .
Should correct the problem.

I'm having the same problem as James. I cannot click in a Word 2007
document. My mouse works in Excel 2007 but not word. I'm running Windows XP
Pro. I also can only navigate the blicking line with the keypad.

Sounds like a corrupt Word DataKey. From Start, Run, type in

regedit

and press enter. Navigate to the DataKey and delete it.

Yes, I have the same problem. After looking it up online for alittle while.
It looks as though you have Vista service pack one and when office 2007
updates and you have word open it causes this problem. As I was reading
someone rolled back there system to before the office update took place and
it was fine.

With that Regedit which file do I delete?
