Try changing your resolution (Apple Menu> System Preferences> Displays)
then drag the Help window back into the middle of the screen. Reset you
resolution to the preferred level

After I open the help menu, there appears to be no means of closing the dialogue box: previously there was a small red button at the top left corner of the box. This recently disappeared and the only way to close the help dialogue box appears to be to quit out of the open file, after which command-w will close the box.

Any ideas?

Hi John, and thanks for the reply.
Hi John, and thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, it is not possible to drag the window down: the window is hard up against the top of the screen, covering the menu bars, and the upper part of the screen that can be used to grab the screen is not in view. Also, when I click in the help screen and press Command+w, the underlying workbook closes, not the help screen.

I am using Excel 2004 and OSX10.5.8

> >
Hi John

Thanks again for the tip: it seems to have provided a partial solution, in that after selecting zoom, whereas the help window remains outside the bounds of the screen, the window responds to Command+w.

Regards, Ken
