Cannot close Microsoft Word

Hi, I am unable close microsoft word I get the message
this file is in use by another application or user
(C:\windows\...\template\normal.dot) I then get the
message that changes have been made that effect the global
template, normal. Do you want to save must click yes to
get anywhere, then get Save as box up to save file named
normal to save in template. Anyone help?
