Cannot completely uninstall MS Project Professional 2003

I tried to use Laplink's PCMover to move a copy of MS Project Professional
2003 from my old XP laptop to my new Vista laptop. It didn't work. After
trying to make it work, I just uninstalled MS Project Professional 2003 from
the Vista laptop as I have the CDs and tried to reinstall. Unfortunately,
when I try to reinstall from the CD, I receive an error message telling me
that there is already a copy of MS Project Professional 2003 on my Vista
laptop....even though I used Uninstall under Vista's Control Panel-Programs
and Features. I tried using the Perfect Uninstaller to find whatever traces
of MS Project Professional 2003 still existed and found a couple of loose
files, but even after removing them, I still receive the error message. So,
now I'm kind of stuck. Does any one know how to determine what files the MS
Project Professional 2003 install is getting hung up on so I can remove them?

Hi CWDK,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Oh dear! The only thing I can think of is to edit the registry. This is a
dicey business so I'm told, but it has worked for me in the past with other
software, but you do so at your own risk! Firstly, created a restore point.
Then hold the Windows button and press R to open a command dialog. Enter
regedit. Go to the File menu and export the registry to a folder you an
readily find, maybe the c:\ root folder. Now Edit/Find and enter "Project
2003". Delete all entries referring to Project 2003, using F3 to find the
next. When you've finished ( there could be as many as 100 entries! ), exit,
reboot with your fingers crossed. Should you run into trouble, reboot using
Safe mode and run regedit from there to Import the one you saved. Good
luck!

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

What I found was that I needed to go in and delete the registry key that was
preventing the reinstall. Even though not there, the SW install thought it
was as the registry key was still there. Once it was deleted, the install
worked fine --
