Hi Poohbear,
When I startup Outlook, I can create databases. They are listed in the drop
down menu. I only cannot connect to them.
In the beginning a message came up, that the database is no longer shared,
but it disappeared.
Message now: An unknown error occurred while connecting to the database.
Please click Retry. If the error recurs, click Help, which I did.
I checked SQL Server service log on is using the Network Service user account.
Permissions for the Folder BCM are set with the correct user groups.
Even in SQL I check off Collation for MSSMLBIZ Databases.
I added the owner user into the User of the BCM Database.
When I log on locally to my computer, BCM runs fine.
I do not have any trouble with MOA Databases running in the same Instance
locally and while connected to a server.
When I check with SQL Management Studio 2008 Express, Restrict Access =
Multiuser, Database State = Normal. I am a user with admin rights and I am
the owner of the BCM database.
Error message in the Application log is, while Outlook is trying to connect
to BCM database:
Log: Windows NT (Application)
Source: MSSQL$SQLEXPRESS2008
Category: Logon
Event: 3221243928
User: NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE
Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'. Reason: Failed to open
the explicitly specified database. [CLIENT: <local machine>]
Hopefully this helps to explain the status.

Is the database a shared database?
When you started the setup process for BCM 2007, did you create your
database? If so, you simply select select existing database, click connect,
and then you click next...wait for the database to load ( if you have an
existing database already started)...If it doesn't load after that, I suggest
you exit of out outlook and restart, if you are still having problems you can
use your second CD to run an error check.
Please Remember whatever you do to Back up your database in case something
goes wrong with your system and save it to a flash drive, you can take it
with you wherever you go; if something happens to your BCM on the computer
you have your flash drive to upload again. That's easy
You can also try microsoft.com web site under office-then Microsoft
outlook2007 w/BCM has demo info and troubleshooting examples.
