Cannot connect to existing database

I installed Outlook 2007 w/ BCM onto a workstation that we use as a
"server" (although it's just a PC on our peer-to-peer network). I
then upgraded to Office Professional 2007 on my workstation.

Yesterday, I created a new database on the 'server' and shared it with
my workstation. Everything went fine and I was able to connect to the
database from my PC. However, today is a different story and I cannot
connect to the database at all. I have restarted both computers and
tried everything I can think of. I un-shared the db and then re-
shared it with myself again, but no luck. I type in the computer name
and it just says it cannot connect to the computer. Both computers
are on the network - in fact, I use another database-driven program
daily that is the same kind of setup - the main program and data is on
the 'server' and I access that data from a local version of the
program. That is working just fine, so I know we're both on the
network and my PC can access the 'server'.

No one messes with these machines except me (they are both in my
office) - and we do not have a network admin since we are such a small
company. I do all of that stuff, so I know no one has made any
changes. The only change I noticed is that my computer had some sort
of microsoft upgrade that was automatically installed overnight - but
I can't imagine why that would cause this problem (?).

Any suggestions? I intend to put everyone in the office on BCM, but
it doesn't look like that's gonna happen unless I can actually connect
to the database.

Thanks.

Probably firewall setting need to be adjusted. We had the same problem in the
past.

First make sure that the BCM sql instance (MSSMLBIZ) is running on the
server.
Then, can you login to the BCM database on the sever with a tool like
sqlcmd?
Then, try doing the same from your client machine.

I have confirmed that BCM sql is running on the server. (I opened up
the configuration tool and it said it was running.)

However, I don't know how to login to the database using sqlcmd. Can
you tell me what the command would be?

Thanks for the help. I am under pressure to implement this, but I
can't until I can get the db shared. Ugh! :)
