Cannot Connect To Localhost in FrontPage

I have read over and over through the discussion group. Followed all the
directions contained within to get localhost to appear ... but so far I
haven't.

Using Windows XP Pro SP2, FrontPage 2003

I uninstalled IIS, Extensions, and Frontpage 2003. I reinstalled IIS and the
extensions from Microsoft website. I reinstalled FrontPage.

I can open http://localhost in IE. But when I try to create a new site in
FrontPage, it appears that it is working and then nothing happens, it just
goes back to the create screen. When I try to open localhost in FrontPage, I
get this error:

The folder 'http://localhost/' isn't accessible. The folder may be
located in an unavailable location, protected with a password, or the
filename contains a / or \.

All Help Greatly Appreciated.

Check the NTFS permissions on the folder. It could be that there's an error
in the permission levels. Also, try adding yourself as an administrator for
the root web through the management tools.

This is taxing my brain ... so please bear with me. When I open the IIS
Console, the defaul web site now has a red Error icon beside it. Have no idea
how to correct this ... any suggestions.

Also, how to I check the NTFS permissions on the folder?

Suggest that you uninstall the FP2002 extensions, then IIS, reboot, then re-install IIS and the
FP2000 extensions from the Windows XP Pro CD. Once you have the extensions configured correctly,
then you can upgrade them to the FP2002 extensions.

Wehn you get theese errors there any errors logged in the Events Viwwer?

Start-->Control panel--Admin tools-->events viwer

...PC

Right click the default web and stop it then restart it
- or do same w/ IIS to see if the red Error Icon clears
The right click it to check the FP SE
