Cannot connect to mail server

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Power PC Email Client: pop I cannot connect to our mail server, mail.XXXX.com.au to download our emails

However, I can connect to our ISP pop.XXXX.com.au server. I use our ISP smtp to send emails which is fine. It was working fine and then all of a sudden failed.
I have reinstalled the Office software with no satisfaction. Has anybody experienced this.

Do you get an error message?? Any chance the server settings have
changed (eg: now require SSL)?

There is no error message. The task just times out.

Office:max vX downloads the emails on the same machine fine.

It could be a corruption somewhere then. Try launching Entourage
pressing the Option key down to rebuild the database,

Did you double-check the settings in Entourage??
Without an error message, it makes it really hard to guess what might
be going wrong.
