Cannot Connect to Project Server 2003

Hi,
I'm unable to connect to project server from Ms Office Project 2003.
Whenever I start the office project in my client computer, first I
choose the account to connect, after Login to the computer server using
the computer server account, then I'm login again using the project
server account. Then error message shows up =

connection failed:
SQLState : '28000'
SQL Server Error : 18456
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login Failed for user
'MSProjectUser7448'

After click OK, then the QSL Server Login window shows up. I set the
server combobox pointing to the Project Server Database Computer. Using
the sa account to login. After click OK, then error message shows up =

Cannot Connect. Project was unable to establish a connection with the
selected Project Server. This could be caused by a loss of network
connectivity, invalid user name or password, lack of an enterprise
global template, or problems with the Project Server or database, or
your Project Server may not have enterprise features enabled.

I have enabled the enterprise feature in the PRoject Server. There also
no connectivity problem to my Project Server Database from my client
computer. I'm very newbie to all of this. Could someone help me? Any
help would be greatly appreciated. Thx

To help troubleshoot this, go to http://microsoft.com/downloads to obtain
the Edit Site tool for Project Server 2003. Install this, start it and click
the test button and let us know what the results are. In the mean time, make
sure that TCPIP is enabled in SQL server, not just named pipes.

Gary,
Are your suggestions below indications of a server problem in saying that no
one can connect? I have the exact same error, but with only one (of over
300) user. I'm thinking it's PC specific. See my new post as of today

Hi,
I already make sure the TCPIP is enabled in SQL server.
This is the test result of the edit site tool:
Everything passed except the Database. It failed. It said that Project
user is not member of MSProjectRole.
Then in the SQL Server - Roles, in MSProjectRole, we add
MSProjectUser7448, MSProjectServerRole. & MSProjectServerUser7448.

We test again, & now everything Passed. But still the same problem
occure in the client machine.
But if we try it from the Project Server Computer, it succeed.

Thanks

Alphonse:

MsProjectServerUser should be a member of the MSProjectServerRole and
nothing else
MsProjectUser should be a member of the MSPRojectRole and nothing else.

Adding them both to both roles is wrong, so fix that. The fact that your
user names are MSProjectUser7448 with the numbers appended indicated that
your server went through at least one unsuccessful installation attempt and
at least one unsuccessful attempt to uninstall and reinstall. Probably more.
If getting the database rights correct does not clear up the particular
error, then you might consider a) wiping the box clean or b) getting some
professional help with the server to diagnose the issue. Leftover garbage
from prior installation attempts tend to cloud the issue a bit. It might be
related to this or something else. In either case, it's not something easy
to work through in news group posts.
