Cannot copy contacts to a folder

More export issues. I am trying to export contacts to a friend via email.
When I make a new folder in Outlook 2003, I cannot copy contacts to it. I
make the folder OK, then open the contacts i wish to export, select all,
press and hold the control key, and drag the items to the folder. When I
open the folder, it is empty.

Not sure why creating a folder in your own file would help you since you
can't send a folder.
You would create a new PST file and copy the contacts to a folder in that
file. The method is not difficult:
Edit > Select All > Edit > Copy to Folder...
