cannot copy gif files to word

I cannot copy a gif, bmp, nor jpg file into a word document. I can forward a
jpg in email, but not a bmp or gif. I reloaded the software "micrsoft office
2003. thought it might be a registry problem, but it still isn't working.
Before I went wireless it use to work. I am on Linksys wireless remote.
