cannot copy macro from one template to another

What am I doing wrong? When I attempt to copy a macro project from one
template to another, using the Organizer, I get a message "The project item
cannot be copied." Knowledge Base suggested a conflicting addin in Startup
but I removed all addins from both Word startup and Office Startup and still
won't copy. Both source and destination are unprotected (is that relevant?)
and both templates are set to always trust from this author (me). I attempted
to export as .bas file but the Import feature on the destination template is
grayed out. Obviously I have a lot to learn but, for now, I need to get this
done.

I suppose I could just copy each macro into new projects in the destination
but I have several to do with multiple versions of the destination template.

Where is the destination template located?

Doug,
Thanks for your response. Sorry I didn't check back right away. I solved my
problem by copying all, starting a new blank document, pasting and then
copying in my macros.

Looking back now (with a little additional info I have since discovered), I
think the issue may have been with the original source document (created
outside our organization). It appears there were other macros originally
attached at the time the file was written but were NOT fully included at the
time of distribution. My guess is the file was constructed in a way that
would not allow any additional macros.

Again, I thank you for your response. I really rely on this forum. It's a
great resource thanks to folks like you.

Hi,

Actually, I have a bunch a Macros inside a MS Word document. But when I go
to the menu and try to copy the macros into another document (e.g. a blank
doc for instance), the list of existing Macros is completely empty!

However, my Macros are there and I can open them using the Visual Basic
Editor!!

Does anyone know why can't I see the list of Macros which are stored in my
tmp.doc file?

Does Macro Security (password protected against editing) affects copying of
the Macro into another document?

Many thanks,

Gizmo

Gizmo,
You might want to repost this as a fresh thread. I suspect my issue
(resolved) and yours are two different things. Others will probably ask you
what version of Word, whether or not your macros are in the template or the
document, etc. good luck.
