Cannot create a new web on a PC server or publish to the PC server

Veronika

For some reason I cannot any longer create a new web site on my PC server or
publish a web to my PC server from ISP. It always ends up on
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\WebX eventhough I indicate to publish it to
http://MyComputerName/WebX or when I create a new web site it indicates that
is being created on http://MyComputerName/WebY but after I save it, it does
not appear under MyNetwork Places with the other web sites.
I can find these webs un my C drive under C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\ only!

I have Windows XP Pro running MS IIS/5.1, FP2002, FP ext 5.0.2.5417

Any suggestions??

Based on what you have written, everything is working correctly.

C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\WebX is the phyiscal location of the web on your HD.

http://MyComputerName/WebX is the URL for accessing the web via the web server in your browser or
FP.

They should appear in My Network Places after you have open the subweb / subsites in FP.

The trouble is, they do not appear in My Network Place and when I open them
from C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\WebX it tells me there is no server for these webs.

If you have the FP SE running under IIS do not open them as disc based webs using
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\WebX

Open them has http://localhost or http://localhost/WebX/ if a subweb

Subweb / subsites do not appear in My Network places unless you have actually open them
independently of the root web. In general open the root web first, then double click to open the
subweb / subsite in FP.
